April Ross

April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball stars to capture medals at many Olympics. Alix klineman, who is taking part for the very first time in Tokyo's Olympics is hoping to secure her third medal. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. With her age of 39, this may be her last opportunity to claim the Olympic gold. Her optimism is that she can achieve top honors. Ross told NBC Boston that if they play their best, and even play well and they are able to play well, the team could win a gold medal. Also, I'll take some luck. Ross was born the 22, 1982, at Costa Mesa California. She resided there along with her entire family. Ross went on to play in many sports in Newport Harbor High School. She competed in basketball and track, in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements in her time as a college athlete. Although she was a pro in indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her performance was above normal. In her own biography her high school days, she was a volleyball player as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). For her efforts she was named in 1999 as the Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman might have begun working together in 2017, but Ross had already been a seasoned player at the beach before they came together. Actually, Ross has won several significant tournaments during her time with two partners. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 until 2013. She also worked with Klineman and herself. Alongside Kessy Ross was an ace in the world circuit, winning an international title in 2009. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group to beat out for gold. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement after she had retired. Both went on to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She was a player in high school and in some years before she hit the beach professionally. The time she spent at USC was an impressive one. In 2000, as a freshman she fought her way to Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year accolades. She also was an All-American. The Trojans could also make it to the Final Four with her help. In her sophomore season she was devastated by a personal loss and still managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. In her last two seasons in the program she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain by winning two three consecutive championships at the national level. She had established herself as an all-time great winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the highest ranked female volleyball player. Ross, an USC international relations student, was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross did not get to see her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross's mom died from breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. She has kept her parents close to her the heart. Margie, on the beach as well as in everyday life, continues to inspire her.
